About Kamloops Men's Gospel Chorus

1. WHO ARE WE?

KMGC (Kamloops Men's Gospel Chorus) has been serving the greater Kamloops community for two (2) years. The chorus is comprised of men of all ages, who are interested in good fellowship and a positive singing experience. This year we would encourage young men from the age of 13 to consider singing with KMGC.

2. WHAT IS OUR PURPOSE?

KMGC gives men from all walks of life an opportunity to unite in song. Singing is a natural way to express ourselves, and gospel music offers a meaningful message in an enjoyable upbeat style

3. WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS FOR MEMBERSHIP?

Men who have a sincere desire to sing are welcome. The ability to "carry a simple tune," that is to differentiate basic pitches, is a fundamental necessity. The opportunity for learning and musical growth will be given at rehearsals.

4. WHAT ARE THE GOALS?

The goals of KMGC include opportunities for quality performances while sharing the message of the gospel. These performances are ultimately intended to benefit the community ... providing quality entertainment, to raise funds for special community needs, and other worthwhile endeavours. We also want to build our membership up to 50 regular members to have an even stronger voice!

5. WHAT IS THE COMMITMENT?

The strength of the group relies on the combined efforts of many individuals. Attending rehearsals and concerts, and practicing during a few moments of private time will result in positive experiences.

6. WHERE AND WHEN ARE THE REHEARSALS?

Central location: Kamloops Alliance Church rehearsal room (north end of the Overlander Bridge) - 233 Fortune Drive, Kamloops, BC

Date: Every Monday starting September 12, 2011
Time: 7:30pm

7. WHAT STYLE OF MUSIC?

The focus will be on gospel music in varying styles ... southern gospel, traditional, spirituals, and contemporary arrangements of familiar tunes.

8. WHAT IS THE COST?

There will be some nominal charges for music.

9. WHAT ARE THE MUSICAL OPPORTUNITIES?

The chorus consists of 4 voice parts, primarily singing, a capella, and sometimes with instrumental accompaniment. The chorus typically performs at community events, churches, senior homes, and by special invitation at concerts. This year the chorus plans to participate in the Kamloops Festival of the Performing Arts.

10. WHO IS THE MUSICAL DIRECTOR?

Musical Director: Wilf Epp, experienced in choral directing, quartet singing, piano, and band.
